When we were asked to compile a list of the world’s most popular books, we trembled in our boots. How could we condense it down to just five? But, of course, we accepted the challenge. This is what we came up with. After much debate, we were able to decide on a couple of great picks. People, may we present to you, a list of the top five of the world’s most popular books.
1.First up on our list of the world’s most popular books is the Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine. Why should it be on this list, we hear you asking. Let’s take a look. It went strong from 1992-1997, and is getting a massive reboot right now, with the new flick! We couldn’t just leave it out. This is the ultimate list of the world’s most popular books. It’s had a massive 350 million copies sold already, and it’s only going to get bigger after this massive new flick!
2. Tolkien. Everybody knows the name of J.R.R. Tolkien. He makes it onto the world’s most popular books list with The Lord of the Rings, selling 150 million copies since the beginning, in 1954! Also now a major motion picture, with everyone’s favourite actors, Orlando Bloom, and Sean Bean, it definitely belongs on the world’s most popular books list. Tolkien didn’t just write a book series; he created a universe. Is it really a wonder that he is on the list of the world’s most popular books?!
3. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis is another gem on the world’s most popular books list. It’s an old gold favourite from 1954, no wonder it ended up among the world’s most popular books. It’s sold 80 million copies – it’s popular, alright. We’re noticing a theme – all of these have been movies! Although, we’re pretty sure that doesn’t affect its position on the list of the world’s most popular books.
4. Coming towards the end of our list, we have the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Another book-turned-film adaptation, of course it is going to be on the list of world’s most popular books, with 80 million copies since 2003. It’s definitely a classic, with all of that historical research. Loved by all, the Da Vinci Code definitely makes the cut for the one of the world’s most popular books.
5. Last, but certainly not least, we have everyone’s favourite, timeless classic. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. With a massive 450 million copies throughout its heyday, 1997-2007. It’s not a wonder this is on the
list of the world’s most popular books! With the new movie coming out soon, they’re about to be discovered, and rediscovered by more, and more people, we expect, making it resurface as the king of the castle that is the world’s most popular books. Much like Tolkien, Rowling was able to create a universe!
All of these books, and so many more, deserved to be on the list of the world’s most popular books, but these guys were just a couple of mentions. Hope you enjoyed the list of the world’s most popular books!
