Gareth Bale is the world’s most expensive football player. He was born on July 16th 1989 in Cardiff, Wales.

He is a Welsh international and plays his career football for a club known as Real Madrid in Spain and the Wales national football team. He plays as a winger and he is well-known for his pace and his ability to take free-kicks. He has jersey number eleven. He has outstanding physical qualities that a player should have as well as tremendous ball crossing ability. In addition, Gareth Bale is a left-footed player which makes him stand out from the rest of the footballers.



Gareth Bale began his career as a football player at Southampton football club in UK. It’s funny noting that Bale did not start his career as a winger but rather as a center back. This is where he developed his expertise in free kick taking. Bale earned 40 app and 5 goals while he was playing for Southampton.

In 2007, Gareth Bale transferred from Southampton to a North London club, Tottenham Hotspurs. It cost Tottenham Hotspurs a fee of ?7 million to acquire Gareth Bale’s services. Bale signed a deal worth four years. It was while playing for Spurs that Bale got transformed into playing a more offensive position. This was hugely affected by introduction of new tactics and the shifts of managers. Gareth Bale came to light during the 2009-2010 season when his manager Harry Redknnap made him an essential player in the team. Tottenham Hotspurs played in the 2010-2011 UEFA Champions League and this is when Gareth Bale came to be internationally known.


During his time at Tottenham Hotspurs, Gareth Bale has received different awards including: PFA Young Player of the year in 2013, FWA Footballer of the year in the same year as well as being named in the PFA Player of the year category in 2011 and in 2013. During 2011 season, Gareth Bale had his name in the UEFA Team of the year. During his entire time at Spurs, Bale earned 146 apps and scored 42 goals.


Gareth Bale moved from Tottenham Hotspurs to Spanish giants Real Madrid in November 2013. Though the fee was not disclosed, reports from Spain suggested that Bale cost Real Madrid ?77 million which is equal to €91 million. Reports from England had it that, Gareth Bale was sold at a fee of ?85.3 million which is equal to €100 million. His fees surpassed the previous world football transfer record of Christiano Ronaldo from Manchester United to Real Madrid which was ?80 million which is equal to €94 million.

Gareth Bale has had a good record at the Santiago Bernabeu winning the UEFA Champions League and the Сора Del Ley during his first season. He has also won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA club world cup with Real Madrid.


Gareth Bale first played for the Wales in 2006. He played for the under 17 from 2005 to 2006 scoring 1 goal and earning 7 apps, the under 19 in 2006 scoring one goal and earning one app. He has scored 19 goals for the senior team since then and earned more than 50 caps with the Wales football team.
